Meet Our Music Director Finalists!

Mark Irchai

Mark enjoys a multi-faceted career as a solo and collaborative pianist, and as an operatic and orchestral conductor. He recently became the Artistic and Music Director of Loudoun Lyric Opera in Leesburg, VA. Mark also served as Music Director for the City of Fairfax Theatre Company’s annual gala in October 2023, a post he also filled in 2022. He looks forward to the recording and release of his upcoming piano solo album Scenes from Childhood. He received his degrees in Piano Performance at Mannes School of Music (Master of Music) and George Mason University (Bachelor of Music).

John Murton

John is the Assistant Conductor of Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, whose role includes the orchestra’s educational programming in partnership with Fairfax County Public Schools. Originally from London, he was conductor of Telford Orchestra, one of UK’s oldest community orchestras, where he worked closely with the board marking the orchestra’s 150th anniversary. In July 2023, he was named a finalist for the Columbia Orchestra conductor search. He received his Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Cincinnati’s College – Conservatory of Music, and Bachelor of Arts in Music at Magdalen College, University of Oxford, where he held a choral scholarship.


Yoon Nam

Yoon is a distinguished orchestral and choral conductor, gracing major churches across the U.S. with her musical prowess. Since 2010, she has served as the Traditional Music Director at Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon. Yoon orchestrates weekly services and bi-annual cantatas, featuring full orchestras and adult, youth, and handbell choirs. She holds a Doctor of Music and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, complemented by a background in voice and piano – earning both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in Seoul. Yoon’s captivating performances enchanted audiences throughout South Korea.


Dietrich Paredes Baralt

Dietrich has conducted many orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Salzburg Festival, Bergen Festival (Norway), Opéra de Toulon (France), Orchestra della Toscana (Italy), RTE Ireland, Suntory Hall (Tokyo), and Seoul Performing Arts. He has also worked with youth orchestras including the Caracas Youth Symphony Orchestra, Australian Youth Orchestra, Round Top Festival (Texas), and Colburn Institute (LA). Additionally, he has been named a conductor finalist at Avanti Orchestra. He received his Bachelor of Music in violin performance at the Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales in Caracas
