The theme for the 2019-2020 concerts by the Reston Community Orchestra (RCO) is On Your Toes! Throughout the year the programs will feature many genres of dance music – and dancers, so expect the unexpected.
The first presentation of this year, HIGHBROW, WITH HIGH KICKS, will be on Sunday, November 2, at 4 PM. It, and all RCO performances, will take place at the Reston Community Center at Hunter’s Woods. Under the baton of Dingwall Fleary, the orchestra’s beloved music director and conductor for the past twenty-six years, the program will include the magnificent Overture and a rousing rendition of the ever-popular Polovetsian Dances by Alexander Borodin, from his exciting stage extravaganza, “Prince Igor.” This breathtaking piece will be brought to life visually with the participation of live dancers from Reston’s own Principal Ballet.
In addition to music for the full symphonic orchestra, this season’s concerts will also showcase soloists and ensembles from within the orchestra, highlighting the exceptional talents of the musicians, all of whom play on a voluntary basis. Prepare to be amazed and impressed.
