Join the Reston Community Orchestra for an evening of music and reflection honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Through music and the spoken word, this annual tribute celebrates Dr. King’s enduring vision of justice, dignity, hope, and community.

Violinist Leo Sushansky joins the orchestra for Florence Price’s lyrical and expressive Violin Concerto No. 2. The program also features George Walker’s deeply moving Lyric for Strings and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s vibrant Danse Nègre, bringing together the voices of three groundbreaking Black composers whose music spans generations and continents.

The orchestra will also perform Symphony No. 1 by local composer Brian Scarborough, continuing RCO’s commitment to bringing the work of living composers to our community.

Throughout the evening, community leaders will give voice to Dr. King’s own words, weaving his message through a program that invites us not only to remember his legacy, but to consider its meaning today.
