Focus on Youth

Young pianist Juan Diego Molina joins the Reston Community Orchestra as soloist in Grieg’s beloved Piano Concerto in A minor, a work that moves from its unforgettable opening flourish through moments of tender lyricism to an exhilarating finale.

RCO will also welcome musicians from the NoVA Youth Ensemble, bringing generations of performers together on one stage.

The program culminates with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Symphony No. 5. Sweeping, passionate, and intensely emotional, the symphony traces a journey from the dark, searching theme of its opening to one of the most triumphant conclusions in the orchestral repertoire.

With youthful artistry at its heart and some of the Romantic era’s most stirring music on the program, Focus on Youth celebrates both where music has been—and the musicians who will carry it forward.
