More Than the Musicians on Stage

The Reston Community Orchestra is more than the musicians you see on stage. We are a volunteer-powered community of musicians, music lovers, neighbors, families, local businesses, and friends who come together because we believe live music makes our community a richer place.

Whether you have a few hours to give, a skill to share, a student group looking for a service project, or a business interested in supporting the arts, there is a place for you at RCO.

Volunteer Opportunities

Concert Volunteers

Help us welcome our audiences. Concert volunteers greet guests, staff the ticket and information table, hand out programs, and usher. It is a great way to experience an RCO concert while helping create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who attends.

Post-Concert Receptions

Our receptions give musicians and audience members a chance to meet and connect after the performance. Volunteers help plan and host these gatherings by setting up refreshments, serving guests, keeping things running smoothly, and cleaning up afterward.

Marketing & Promotion

Help us spread the word about RCO. Volunteers can assist with community outreach, advertising, social media, distributing promotional materials, photography, and other efforts to introduce new audiences to the orchestra.

Orchestra & Concert Logistics

There is plenty that happens behind the scenes before the first note is played. Volunteers help with orchestra setup, concert-day logistics, equipment, signage, and the practical details that help rehearsals and performances run smoothly.

Students & Community Groups

We welcome students seeking volunteer service hours, Scout troops, school organizations, and other community groups looking for opportunities to serve.

Concerts and special events offer a variety of ways to volunteer, and we are happy to work with groups to find an opportunity that fits their needs while supporting the arts in our community.

Board & Leadership

RCO’s volunteer Board of Directors helps guide the orchestra’s strategy, programs, and future. Board openings are limited and may not always be available, but we welcome interest from community members who would like to become more deeply involved with the organization.

Business & Community Partners

Local businesses and organizations play an important role in helping RCO bring live music to our community. We welcome partnerships of all sizes and are happy to work with you to find a way to participate that makes sense for your organization.

Sponsor or Underwrite a Concert

Help make a performance possible by providing financial support for an individual concert, special program, or other RCO initiative.

Sponsor a Musician

Support the artists who bring our performances to life by sponsoring an orchestra musician or guest artist.

Become a Community Partner

Connect your business or organization with concerts or programs through refreshments, special events, event-related sales, goods or services, or another creative collaboration that benefits RCO and our community.

Advertise with RCO

Reach local music lovers and community members by advertising in our concert programs or through other RCO promotional opportunities.

Make an In-Kind Contribution

Goods and professional services can be every bit as valuable as financial support. Food and beverages, printing, photography, event services, and other contributions help us make the most of every dollar we receive.

Have another idea? We would love to hear it. Some of our best community partnerships grow from creative ways local businesses, organizations, and RCO can support one another.

Be Part of RCO

Whether you can give us one evening, help with a special project, share your professional expertise, or become involved on an ongoing basis, we would love to have you join us.

You do not have to be on stage to be part of the orchestra.
